Simran & Karamvir - Punjabi Wedding in Camrose and Edmonton
It's my first wedding in Camrose, AB. It's Punjabi and I'm excited.
We kick it off with the mehndi party:
The SK logo is everywhere and on everything; a nice touch that keeps you from forgetting who's getting married. In this case, it keeps you hydrated, as well:
The second morning, the future bride is waiting for her uncles:
They come straight from Punjab:
Nanki Shak is when the mom's side relatives come to the house with lots of gifts:
Dil-E-Punjab makes sure everyone is well fed:
I find the center pieces on the tables simply exquisite:
In the evening, Bogdan is at Karamivir's for the maiyan ceremony:
In the same time, I'm in Camrose:
We're being spoiled with a few performances:
Simran's father told me he cried a few times this week, when he saw the bills. At this point I'm starting to suspect there might be completely different reasons.
The huge tent proves to be very tight when the jaago comes:
It's late, so the maiyan is very short:
The maternal uncles are waiting for the bride-to-be to finish her shower and transport her downstairs for the choora ritual:
It's a quite early morning on the wedding day and Aries has nobody to play with:
The packed schedule will keep everyone busy for the next 15 hours:
From Honolulu, Hawaii to Camrose, AB, there's seems to be no place I can't find Sunita:
The limo is here, as well:
The groom is getting ready in Edmonton:
Today's Anand Karaj will take place at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, in Millwoods:
In my book, that's a brave Punjabi groom:
More often than not, Simran's dad is remembering all those bills:
Karamvir's dad is a passionate phone photographer, but he seems to lack the photo journalistic instincts:
After the 'Ceremony of Bliss' is concluded, everybody goes back to Camrose for the doli:
Blood, sweets and money - the three ingredients of a successful negotiation:
Before departure, we have time for some pictures by the Mirror Lake:
The new Mrs. Simran:
Karamvir brings home his new wife:
The last day of celebrations begins at Chateau Lacombe Hotel, where they have very nice staff:
We quickly make our way to Maharaja Banquet Hall for the reception:
The Headway School Bhangra Team sets the mood for party.
Live music with Kulvinder Gill:
Congratulations one more time, Simran & Karamvir! Thank you so much for a wonderful week!
