 The Ismaili wedding ceremonies last about 4 days and everything is showered with flower petals.  The colourful glitter is added to the mehndi design solely for picture purposes.  Something like this:  Shyna, the bride's sister is bringing holy water from jamatkhana:  In order to maintain the purity of the water, she's not allowed to speak or even smile before she hands the gari over to the bride's mother:  Not such an easy task because she wants hard cash in exchange:   During the Mandhvo, four uncles bring pineapples to the bride's house and place them in the four corners of the room. Nafilia & Aleem Met the Mayor of Calgary (Ismaili Wedding Photography in Edmonton)

 Nafilia and Aleem's big day has arrived and all the details have to be perfect:  Good thing I took a shower just before I came. There's a long line:  But Naf keeps a tight schedule, so everything runs smoothly. Upstairs and downstairs:  Dao can't hide her excitement to play with the bride's hair:  I can't get over how awesome these paper flowers are:  Same morning, different location, Aleem starts the day with the right foot:  And works his way up:  We go to a park - not my first choice because of the midday sun - for the first touch on the shoulder:  And the first hug, which is, actually, the last hug as an engaged couple:  Between FIFA Women's World Cup opening game and the Pride Parade, you would think that we have enough excitement for one day.
