Fort Galle, Sri Lanka - Lighthouse at the End of the World

Image
Dating back to 1939, Galle Lighthouse stands 26.5 metres (87 ft) high on the ramparts of Galle, which withstood the 2004 Christmas tsunami that hit badly the coast of Sri Lanka. The fort was first built by the Portuguese in 1588 and it was extensively fortified by the Dutch during the 17th century. UNESCO inscribed it on the World Heritage List for its cultural value of 'an urban ensemble which illustrates the interaction of European architecture and South Asian traditions from the 16th to the 19th centuries'. travel.more.cosmin

The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala state in southern India. The network includes five large lakes linked by canals, both manmade and natural, fed by 38 rivers, and extending virtually half the length of Kerala state. The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the Western Ghats range. travel.more.cosmin

I said okay, not expecting much to happen. Parjeet messaged me the next day - that was a surprise! Within a few weeks of talking to him, I proclaimed to my sister 'I think this is it!'. She looked at me like I was crazy. Luckily, time proved those initial feelings to be true. I'm so happy to have made it to this point so that we can finally be together, and be husband and wife! :) "  Parjeet brought his family all the way from California.  They won't go back empty handed.  After the milni, we step inside the Dashemesh Gurdwara for the Anand Karaj:  This may be the sweetest first look at a Sikh wedding.
