Sheena & Neal - Dandiya Dance and Other Hindu Wedding Rituals

 It all starts with the sagan, the families meet and offer each other gifts:  Sheena gets her mehndi done in the same evening and this is was her secret to have the henna dry faster and darker:  Live music for the ladies sangeet. Pretty awesome:  Dandiya dance:  The day before the wedding, the last vatna (butna) takes place:  Sheena is the one of the very few brides that can't wait to have the turmeric paste on her face:  She can even sell the product:  This is a new ritual (for me). It involves 7 married women or 9, in this case, that bring pots of water on their heads form the village well (garden hose).  And they wash the yellow paste off the soon to be bride:  At least, they try:  The choora ceremony is prepared right after that:  Looks good:  The bangles are purified in milk and flowers:  This reminds me of that movie, Lord of the Bangles:  The most accurate way to identify which girl is going to marry next...

Sukh & Navi - Punjabi Fairytale

   Navi: "From the first time we crossed paths at M.E Lazerte high school I felt something I had never felt before. Some time went on and we met again, this time I knew I wasn't going to let her go."  The wedding countdown:   Sukh: "10 years ago i fell in love with a guy, who's locker was down the hall from mine. I always wished I had the courage to talk to him but that never happened. He probably didn't know I even existed...or so i thought. As fate would have it we met again and the rest, as they say, is history."  It's the first time when the father-in-law to be is tying the turban:  This is a pretty special capture you don't see every day, the groom getting pimped up by both his fathers:  Last thing they need this morning:  And maybe the sehra bandi:  The rain gods are blessing us all:  And watch us dance:  This journey reminds me of Lord of the Rings:  And we make it back to the bride's place:  Her...
